Faith Communities have a unique opportunity to help support their elders. Seniors have the highest rate of church attendance across all age groups and are likely to turn to their faith leaders when they have a crisis or need support. Some statistics:
Between 1 and 2 million Americans are victims of elder abuse each year.

It is estimated that for every one case of elder abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self neglect reported to authorities, five more go unreported.

But in cases of financial abuse only 1 in 25 cases, which means that there may be at least 5 million financial abuse victims each year.

90% of abusers are family members.
